5 Canva Alternatives for iOS and Android in 2021

Canva is undoubtedly a great solution both on your mobile and desktop for creating DIY graphics yourself, but it’s not my go-to app. If you're looking for an alternative here are 5 options available on both iOS and Android.

NO PHOTOSHOP SKILLS ARE REQUIRED!

ADOBE EXPRESS

Adobe Spark has become my new fav over Canva, Adobe Express formerly Adobe Spark is a part of the Adobe Creative Suite and with no design experience or skills, you can easily design graphics, social media posts, videos and cool Instagram stories. Within Adobe Express you have text, image, web and video tools with the ability to also remove the background from images. With a large suite of templates and themes, it’s very easy to use, giving you the ability to resize templates, text and images. You can also find some cool animation and automation features that will support your interactive post in no time.

The both free and paid version of Adobe Express contains hundreds of templates, for adverts, business graphics, announcements, invitations, flyers, posters, collages, YouTube thumbnails, blog posters, profile covers, Facebook posts, Twitter posts and profile covers. If you’ve got an Etsy or Shopify shop you can even create graphics to feature in your store.

Another cool feature is you can upload your brand via the desktop version which you can apply to all your graphics making it super friendly. As well as sharing content with your team who can use the same template

Adobe Express is free for all with no credit card required, however, all your final exports and saves will have the logo watermark added. If you want to have your full branding added and no watermark included you’ll need to pay a monthly subscription of £9.99 however if you already paid for the Adobe Creative Suite it’s automatically included in your subscription.

GODADDY STUDIO FORMERLY OVER

An excellent alternative to Canva, you can knock up a graphic and template (layouts) super quick with easy to use tools. You should try it as it’s packed with tons of handy features and the interface is clean and clear. With a variety of templates, graphics and fonts with easy access to Unsplash and Pixy.

I find it much easier to use than Canva and Spark but it’s been my go-to app for years. You can create adverts, business graphics, announcements, invitations, flyers, posters, collages, YouTube thumbnails, blog posters, profile covers, Facebook posts, Twitter posts and profile covers.

Within the paid version you can create a team with up to 30 members under one subscription s allowing you to collaborate, organise projects, brand assets and share ideas in a shareable folder. It also gives you the ability to comment on work and get notified about feedback.

To use the full version of GoDaddy Studio both on IOS and Android cost £8.99 monthly or £52.99 annually. If you’d like to make use of the team's version this cost £56.99 a month but also includes the marketing suite on desktop.

UNFOLD

Unfold is a very specific tool that is Powerful but the solution is not as versatile as Abobe Spark Post and Godaddy. You can bring your social profiles to life with the amazing templates to create portrait stories for Instagram.

With no requirement to create an account, you can connect your Instagram account to plan your social content as well as create a Bio site giving you one link to your social bios as an alternative to the link tree.

The free version of the app includes 25 templates, 5 fonts and several advanced text tools for creating unique pieces. If you are in love then you can go for Unfold + who offer a 7-day free trial then a monthly £8.99 cost or an annual subscription for £69.99 which automatically renews every month which includes the Unfold+ Membership.

TYPORAMA

If you’re a lover of making quotes and adding text to your photos then Typorama allows you to do this with ease. You don’t need any design skills, as soon as your open the app you select your image, desired platform and then the style of text you want to apply to the image. It’s a simple as that and allows you to create posts super quick. If your looking to be a showstopper with your post this app is impressive.

As with the others, you can opt for the free version or subscribe to the PRO version applied after the 3 days trial for £2.79 a month or £12.99 (One Time) as a promotional offer when you first launch the app or £22.99

A DESIGN KIT (ADK+) - A COLOR STORY

I found this app a late but fantastic editing tool and you can create some amazing designs with various designs and fonts available to add a twist or splash of something different to your images. It’s like have a mini version of Photoshop in your hand with realistic brushes to draw in gradients and textures, over 20+ modern fonts, 120 unique designs and a range of fun stickers. If you want to go another level you can turn your images into collages.

You can draw whatever you want with resizing and layer adjust functionality. The free version gives you access to all of the above, but if this meets your design needs you can purchase ADK+ for £3.99 a month or £23.49 for the year after a 3-day full version trial providing 70 textures, 7 brushes, 200+ stickers, 40+ fonts and 200+ colleges.
